The aim of this study was to evaluate the performace of Rebo variety (Vitis vinifera L.) in different altitude vineyards of Santa Catarina State - Brazil in three consecutive cycles (2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12). The vineyards were: Campos Novos (973 m); Marari (1,059 m), Água Doce (1,300 m) and São Joaquin (1,400 m). They were planted in 2006 with 1.5 x 3.0m spacing and trained in vertical trellis system. Climatic data were obtained by meteorological stations at each site. Phenological stages were determined during the vegetative cycle. At harvest were evaluated technological maturation and productivity indices. It was observed that average temperatures during ripening in Campos Novos, Marari, Água Doce and São Joaquim were 19.1, 17.6, 17.1 and 15.8°C respectively. São Joaquim and Água Doce stood out for the highest rates of global radiation. The variety Rebo in São Joaquim presented earliest budding and latest harvest (total cycle of 219 days), plant cycle duration decreases as the altitude reduces. Grapes produced in Campos Novos had the best technological maturation indices. The vineyard located in Marari had highest yields. Among the vineyards studied it was found that as the altitude increases the average temperature decreases, the overall radiation increases and acidity levels increases. The results strongly suggest that all vineyards studied have high potential to produce Rebo variety with distinct characteristics. |
